Legacy Ridge Equine Facility

Growing up in North Vancouver, close by to a local equestrian centre and trail riding, I have always had a passion to be involved with horses. While living in Vancouver I took riding lessons for a couple years in jumping and equitation, as well as worked at some of the local barns doing chores. My interest kept growing, which then led me to N.A.I.T up in Fairview, Alberta, where I recieved my certification for Breaking and Training Colts. After this course, I took a 6 week praticum with Natural Horsemanship Clinician, Nettie Barr. Here I was taught a very gentle way of "Starting" a horse under saddle, which is based around body language, leadership, trust and patience.
Over the next couple years, I was exposed to many different experiences, which included managing show barns and travelling with the responsibility of the care of the horses and the show clipping that is required. Also, being involved with different diciplines, different people and different horses has taught me that there is no such thing as one program.
Today, I am currently helping people get their youngsters started, older horses conditioned and tuned up, fixing those horses with more baggage, and keeping the owner as involved as much as possible. I have worked with all ages and breeds of horses from Quarter Horses, Arabians, Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds to the Icelandic Horse and my new favourite, the Gypsy Vanner. I've had a lot of fun with the Gypsy Vanner breed that I have added a 3 year old, buckskin stallion to my herd. We have high hopes with him in the show ring and will be available for breeding. My goal is to help the communication between horse and rider to make for a closer bond that is fun and exciting, and that its 90% mental and only 10% physical.
